Weeks

Demreforian weeks have four days, with 9 weeks fitting evenly into a month. Every month starts and ends on the same day, and each weekday corresponds with specific numbers of the month.

Because the months share the same days, the average calendar only needs one page, which will be compatible with every month, every year. The average calendar page may look a little something like this:

Generally, a working week is seen as 2 days with a 2 day weekend. These are usually split as Minda/Grada and Yieda/Firthda, though which are considered the weekend and which are the work days will depend on the employer.

The only time of year that doesn’t conform to this table of weeks is the 5-day month of Sonfe, which has it’s own day names.

Months

Each month has 36 days, except for the 11th month, which is the month of Sonfe; known as Sunfest by the religious and Keowfe by the Foxen Empire. Sonfe is a 5 day month that is generally celebrated as a holiday.

The months are marked by the blue moon, which is full for two days a month; the first and last days.

Years

Each year on Demrefor ends on the last day of Sonfe and begins on the 1st of Lorane.

Years are marked by recorded history (AE) and before recorded history (BW). AE is short for Awakli Eani; which translates from old Demreforian into “After Time”, and BW is short for Bealo Wea; or “Before History” in old Demreforian.

The end of every year is marked by Sonfe and the five-day eclipse. This eclipse marks the ageing ceremony for most Sentient races. This tradition originally came from the Animon religion but was globalised during the founding of the International Alliance. This eclipse is quite strange as the moons’ travels are not always aligned, but no matter where they are in the sky before and after the eclipse, they will always move to cover the sun during Sonfe and mark the new year.

Every 10 years on the 1st of Lorane there is the Triple Moon; a night when all three moons become full. This marks the resetting of the star and moon cycle, and many Sentient races use this to separate new generations of children. Babies born during the Triple Moon are held in high regard and considered to be the ‘leaders’ of their generation.
