Telekinesis
Telekinesis is the ability to move objects around without touching them. It is a simple, easy-to-use magic that takes very little energy and only a moderate amount of effort to initially learn. Those that struggle with it are often able to use a wand or staff to channel and direct their magic to make moving things easier. Because of its ease-of-use it is considered one of the most common magics on Demrefor; though recorded numbers of use includes people who are only able to awkwardly knock an object over. Those who train in the magic and have more fine control of how they move objects are a little less common, though still not surprising to meet in day-to-day life.
Generally, the object must be visible in order to be moved, though some more powerful magic users have managed to train themselves to move objects that they cannot see but know are there; provided they are familiar with the object’s shape and weight. Very rarely, a person is able to move things in another room from themselves entirely, though this has only been documented a few times in history.
There are quite a few practical uses for telekinesis and is a beneficial skill to have when looking for work in low-strength labouring jobs. Those who use telekinesis are often considered ideal for things such as cooking, cleaning, serving, or clothing repairs. It is also common for those who work in retail or libraries to have practised the magic, as it makes taking things off shelves much easier.
In everyday life, telekinesis is often used as a party trick.
