Mud-Waddler
The mud-waddlers are a sapient quadrupedal dragon race known to live on Keos Leesa. Related to the rock-burrowers and ash-eaters, they make their societies in wet, swampy environments. With an abundance of food, these plant-eating dragons are known to want for very little and spend most of their time relaxing.
About the size of the average house-cat, these quick-footed dragons have very little in ways of natural defence and rely on their speed and ability to spend extended lengths of time submerged in murky waters to avoid predators. They have thin skin comparable to that of an axolotl, as well as decorative frills and fins.
They are born into single-egg nests, but grow and become capable relatively quickly. Though they are all born with single-tone brown skin, they develop markings as they get older. Male mud-waddlers have richer, darker colours in their skin and fins; often developing bright display colours. Mud-waddler females tend to be paler, with their markings more likely to blend into their main colouration.
They visit the explored territories less than the rock-burrowers and the ash-eaters, but when they do they are known for being friendly and laid-back; rarely seeming to have a care in the world.
Mud-waddlers that have visited the explored territory tell stories of one of their territories that, in the late 5,600’s, began to dry up and was invaded by an alliance of rock-burrowers and ash-eaters. It is said that two mud-waddler children were taken by the alliance and raised as child soldiers. Given names by their captors that translated roughly into Hiding Parasite and Sparking Bite, they faked loyalty and acted together as double-agents, eventually killing the leaders of the alliance and ending the war. They are hailed throughout mud-waddler culture as heroes and most will take any opportunity to use them as a brag about mud-waddler strength.
