Rock-Burrower
The rock-burrowers are a sapient quadrupedal dragon race known to live on Keos Leesa. Related to the mud-waddlers and ash-eaters, they make their societies in rocky environments with little-to-no soil. Though food is often scarce, rock-burrowers have an efficient metabolism and omnivorous diet that allows them to thrive in the harsh environments they call home.
About the size of the average house-cat, these stocky dragons have hardened scaled plates along their back to protect them from predators, and many also have clubs or horns to defend themselves with. Naturally, their scaly skin is the colours of rocks and dirt; used for camouflage.
They are born in nests of 5-10 hatchlings per clutch, with none of their natural armour or weaponry. Rock-burrower parents must be vigilant in protecting their children as they grow and develop their protective scales, rarely leaving their size for the first two years of their lives until they are sure they are safe; though they still are strict parents who expect obedience and good-behaviour from their children until they reach adulthood.
Though their culture is strict to the point of almost being militant, they are respected by other draconic races and it is known that, in times of need, the dragons of Keos Leesa turn to them for advice. They are somewhat frequent travellers to I’reka, and many make their home in the Torat mountainsides alongside the zokex.
