Train-Puller
The train-puller is a domesticated breed of dragon originating from the continent of Gallamor. Bred from the wild goliath dragons, they are thought to be related to the big-flier and and moon-goliath breeds. Measured from shoulder to haunches, the train-puller averages 25 meters long, weighs between 30,000 and 40,000 kg, and is able to exert up to 3,000 horsepower.
Matching their size, these creatures have a massive diet and eat an average of 2% of their own body weight per day, usually provided by their keepers as large hay-bales and meadows that they can graze on. Though grass and hay is the primarily-provided diet, train-pullers are able to eat most plants, including several poisonous ones such as chino plant vines, without any ill effect.
Because of their work pulling trains, as their name implies, these dragons are rippling with muscles so thick they are unable to lift themselves from the ground and take flight. Over the years they’ve been bred, their unused wings have shrunk significantly in size and they have become completely flightless.
Instead these dragons are great runners; with large chests and huge lung capacity, they are specially bred and trained to run along Demrefor’s railway systems, pulling train-carts behind them along pre-laid tracks to provide a speedy and consistent form of transport to the people. They have a large amount of stamina, strength, and speed, allowing them to turn month-long journeys on foot into a few days of train-travel that is rarely disrupted as, when facing an obstacle, most train-pullers will simply plough through it without slowing— Something that discourages would-be thieves from attempting to rob train-goers.
Despite being the only domestic goliath breed to eat an all-plant diet, they are quite a bit more stubborn and aggressive than the other domestic goliath breeds, and more caution must be taken when caring for them.
